SafeRides
Terms of Service
SafeRides is a technology marketplace. We are not the owner of most vehicles, not a bank, not an insurer, and not a licensed investment advisor. Leases, rides, repairs, and vehicle schemes are contracts between users. You can lose money. Tracking and immobilization can fail. You use the platform at your own risk, subject to applicable Zambian law (which may not allow a full waiver of liability).
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. Drivers must hold a valid licence for the vehicle class they operate. You must provide accurate KYC when asked.
2. The service
SafeRides lets drivers, fleet owners, clients, and mechanics list vehicles, bid on leases, take private hire, pay through a wallet (including MoMo / Lenco), hold funds in escrow, chat, buy in-app ads from the wallet, subscribe to owner/mechanic plans, join vehicle schemes, and use safety tools (SOS, phone GPS, optional hardware tracker, immobilization requests).

3. Accounts
You are responsible for your login, wallet PIN, and devices. Notify us of unauthorized use. We may suspend accounts for fraud, abuse, safety risk, or unpaid obligations. You can request deletion in the app or at /delete-account. Open leases, debts, and investigations may delay full erasure.
4. Marketplace, listings, and chat (UGC)
You must not post illegal, fraudulent, discriminatory, or harmful content. We may remove listings, ads, or messages and suspend users. You can report a listing or chat participant in the app. We do not guarantee that every item is reviewed before it appears. You grant SafeRides a licence to host and display content you upload so the service can operate.
5. Payments, escrow, ads, and subscriptions
- Wallet top-ups and payouts use third-party payment rails. Fees and FX are shown at checkout where we control them; operators may add their own charges.
- Escrow and lease collections are marketplace settlement tools, not a deposit-taking bank account and not insurance of the other party’s performance.
- Owner/mechanic subscriptions and some paid digital features (analytics, automated tools, immobilization commands) are billed through the SafeRides wallet today. If you downloaded the app from Google Play, digital feature unlocks may also need to follow Google Play billing rules — we will update checkout if that applies.
- Wallet-paid ads promote listings inside SafeRides. Ads must be accurate and lawful.
- Paid driver verification is an optional background-check badge, not a government licence and not a guarantee of character.
6. Vehicle schemes (crowdfunding / stokvel-style lots)
This is not an investment product. Contributing does not guarantee you a car, a return, or a refund. Lots can change when others contribute more. Schemes can be delayed, cancelled, or fail. You can lose some or all of the money you put in. SafeRides is not a collective investment scheme prospectus unless counsel and regulators say otherwise — treat contributions as voluntary pooling toward a hoped-for vehicle, with real risk of loss.
A deadline may close new joins while existing members can still contribute. Ranking is by contribution then join time, as described in-app. Admin may fulfill or cancel schemes. Get independent advice if you cannot afford to lose the money.
7. Location tracking and immobilization
- If you drive a leased vehicle, you consent to the owner of that vehicle and SafeRides seeing your phone GPS (and hardware tracker if fitted) while the lease is active, including in the background on Android.
- The owner may request immobilization of their vehicle. SafeRides staff must approve before a kill-switch command is sent. Immobilization can strand a vehicle and create safety risk. It must not be used to threaten a person. Emergency and abuse reports should go to the police and to [email protected].
- Tracking is not a guarantee against theft, accident, or crime. GPS and networks fail.
- You must not track or immobilize a vehicle you do not own or are not contracted to manage.
8. Safety and liability
Road use, night work, and P2P leasing are dangerous. SOS, call-log backup (non-Play builds), and emergency contacts are aids, not a promise of rescue. To the maximum extent permitted by Zambian law, SafeRides, its operators, and contractors are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or events caused by other users, payment providers, GPS/network failure, or your breach of these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including fraud or personal injury caused by our negligence where that cannot be waived).
You agree to indemnify SafeRides against claims arising from your listings, driving, vehicles, KYC fraud, scheme promotions, or misuse of tracking/immobilization.
9. Acceptable use
No scraping, no unauthorized access, no using the app to stalk or harm someone, no money-laundering, no listing stolen vehicles, no content involving minors. We cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.
10. Governing law
These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, with disputes in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Zambia, unless a mandatory consumer rule says otherwise. Counsel must confirm the operator entity and venue.
